On Monday, March 27th, 2023, at 12:15 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of S First St and I St, Turlock, observed a driver blowing through stop signs, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on him, however, the driver turned off his vehicle’s lights and took off from the officer, so a pursuit was initiated.

The driver continued southbound on S First St, eventually turning eastbound onto E Olive Ave. He continued northbound onto N Olive Ave, turned westbound onto Starr Ave, southbound through an alleyway, and into the parking lot of the First American Title Company, where he ditched his vehicle.

The driver ran northbound on N Olive Ave and the officer attempted to chase him, however, lost him.

A short time later, the vehicle’s owner, Jose Aguilar, 29, of Turlock, was contacted in the area. Simultaneously, a family member of his attempted to report the vehicle that had just been involved in the pursuit stolen.

Aguilar displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and was on post release community supervision for manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic, participating in a criminal street gang, and fleeing the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death to another person.

Officers then searched Aguilar’s nearby apartment pursuant to his release conditions, however, were unable to locate anything of interest.

Aguilar was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of public intoxication and violation of post release community supervision.

Aguilar was unable to be charged with anything related to the pursuit due to an officer not actually seeing him driving, however, the totality of the circumstances indicated it was likely him.

The pursuit reached speeds of about 100 miles per hour, covering a distance of just under two miles in about two minutes.
