At about 2:31pm Sunday afternoon, Turlock Police responded to a suspicious person at Amigo Market in the 1000 block of W. Main Street.

The caller reported that there was a man with a knife staring at them, making gestures towards them like slicing a throat. The caller also reported that they believed the man was under the influence of drugs as he was dancing in the middle of the road.

By the time the first officer arrived on scene, the man had made his way across the street to La Rancherita Carniceria. He immediately recognized him as Glen Cooper, 52, of Turlock, someone who they deal with regularly.

The officer watched Cooper walk into the business and followed him in, while he was still holding the knife. Cooper then put the knife away as he grabbed some drinks from the fridge.

Additional officers arrived on scene and Cooper began walking away from them, not complying. Cooper was put at gunpoint and an officer then deployed his TASER on him.

Cooper was then taken into custody and American Medical Response was requested for a check out due to the TASER deployment.

Through the investigation, Cooper was determined to be under the influence.

Cooper was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a public officer and disorderly conduct.
