Man reportedly tampering with mailbox arrested on two felony warrants Sunday morning

On Sunday, December 18th, 2022, at 11:16 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported vandalism in progress in the 1700 block of Fulkerth Rd, Turlock, after a man had been seen reportedly using a stick to tamper with a mailbox.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the man, who was walking away from the area. He was identified as David Lester, 47, of Turlock.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Lester, he returned with three warrants. The first one was a $25,000 local felony warrant of arrest for bringing or sending an alcoholic beverage or non-controlled substance or paraphernalia for such into a jail or prison, the second one was a $155,555 felony bench warrant out of Modesto for contempt of court, and the third one was a $2,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Ceres for possession of a controlled substance and willfully failing to appear as required after being released from custody on own recognizance for a misdemeanor.

Lester was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrants.
