The Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office announced today that Alberto Duran, 46, of Turlock, was sentenced to life in prison following his conviction during a jury trial for multiple counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child, sexual penetration of a child, and sodomy.

Deputy District Attorney Larissa Jones prosecuted the case on behalf of the people.

The sexual abuse of two children by Duran started when both victims were under 10 years old and lasted over a decade. The victims reported the abuse to the Turlock Police Department when they learned Duran had access to another child whom they feared would also be sexually assaulted.

Turlock Police Detectives immediately began investigating, arrested Duran, and presented the facts of the case to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

After Duran was convicted by a jury, he was sentenced to life in state prison by The Honorable Judge Shawn Bessey.

“The Turlock Police Department is thrilled to see yet another criminal put behind bars for committing such horrific crimes against young, innocent children,” said the Turlock Police Department in a social media post. “We are proud of the victims who came forward and saved another victim from experiencing the same abuse they did. Great work by our detectives and the prosecutors. We will forever seek justice for all victims,” they continued.

Duran was remanded to the custody of the sheriff and will soon be transferred to the custody of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to begin his license sentence.
