On Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021, at 1:00 am, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy at the intersection of N Golden State Blvd and Fulkerth Rd, Turlock, on-viewed a vehicle commit a violation of the California Vehicle Code. The deputy pulled behind the vehicle and activated his emergency lights, when its driver, Joseph Krueger, 36, of Ceres, sped off off from him.

The deputy initiated a pursuit and chased Krueger in a circle around town, before Krueger eventually stopped at N Golden State Blvd and 20th Century Blvd, right down the road from where the pursuit started.

The deputy, along with other deputies and Turlock Police officers who had joined the pursuit conducted a high risk stop, held Krueger had gunpoint, and ordered that he surrender. Krueger failed to comply and was shot shortly after by sheriff’s deputies with less-than-lethal beanbag rounds.
