At about 8:32pm Tuesday night, Turlock Police responded to a drive-by shooting that had just occurred at Bank of America in the 500 block of E. Main Street.

The caller reported that they believed a drive-by shooting had just occurred because they heard what they believed to be shots fired and then found several of the bank’s windows broken that they believed had been shot out.

Officers arrived on scene and began investigating, learning that the windows had actually been bashed out by a man with a baseball bat who fled the scene walking eastbound on Main Street. A description of him was provided by a witness.

A few minutes later, Officer Croxen located a man matching the description with a baseball bat walking eastbound along E. Canal Drive, at Crane Park.

Croxen contacted the man, later identified as Raymond Santibanez, 30, of Ceres, who was uncooperative with him and continued walking away with the bat still in hand.

Other officers arrived on scene and assisted with detaining Santibanez.

During the detention, Santibanez made a statement to an officer about wanting to shoot him.

Through the investigation, Santibanez was confirmed to be who had broken the windows, and the damage caused was estimated to be over $400, making the vandalism a felony.

Santibanez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of attempting to deter or resist an executive officer in the performance of their duty by means of threat or violence, vandalism, and possession of a leaded cane.
