On Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023, at 11:28 am, a Turlock Police officer near 99 Cents Only Stores, 701 N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, observed a driver violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on her.

The officer made contact with and asked the vehicle’s two occupants, driver Reyna Saldivar, 28, of Modesto, and Doroteo Gonzales, 27, of Modesto, to identify themselves.

Saldivar gave her own name, however, Gonzales gave someone else’s name. The officer recognized Gonzales and began to further question him. Gonzales then got out of the vehicle and ran into the 99 Cents store, while Saldivar blocked the officer in an attempt to delay him.

When the officer told his dispatcher who he believed Gonzales was, he discovered that he had a no-bail federal detainer warrant out of the United States Marshals Service for escape.

Assisting officers arrived in the area and spotted Gonzales jump a fence into the backyard of a home in the 500 block of N First St. One of them then spotted Gonzales hiding in a shed within the backyard.

The resident of the home was contacted and gave officers consent to search her property. Gonzales was found in the shed and arrested.

Gonzales and Saldivar were both booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Gonzales on charges of bringing or sending an alcoholic beverage or non-controlled substance or paraphernalia for such into a jail or prison, attempting to deter or resist an executive officer in the performance of their duty by means of threat or violence, false personation, and obstructing or resisting a public office in the discharge of their duty, as well as his warrant, and Saldivar on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
