Man wanted for domestic violence incident arrested after nearly leading officer on pursuit Saturday night

On Saturday, July 30th, 2022, at 10:00 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Julian St and Grant Ave, Turlock, observed a vehicle violating the California Vehicle Code by driving recklessly down the residential street at speeds estimated to be about ninety miles per hour, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on it.

The vehicle quickly turned northbound on N Soderquist Rd, eastbound on Chestnut St, and then northbound on The Burl before stopping.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Victor Gonzalez, 60, of Turlock, and his female passenger, removing them from the vehicle and detaining Gonzalez in handcuffs to further investigate. Gonzalez told the officer that he was being chased by another vehicle and was attempting to escape, however, that claim was unfounded.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Gonzalez, he returned to be wanted by the Turlock Police Department for a previous domestic violence incident and had a domestic violence order from that case that he needed to be served.

Gonzalez was served with the order and then arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of domestic violence inflicting corporal injury. His vehicle was also impounded.

The woman Gonzalez was with was released. She was not the victim of the previous domestic violence incident that he was wanted for.
