Man wanted from Modesto road rage incident arrested in Turlock after following other driver early Monday morning

On Monday, September 12th, 2022, at 5:25 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported disturbance in progress at the intersection of Geer Rd and E Hawkeye Ave, Turlock, after a 74-year old man had reported that he was being followed by an unknown man in a silver Dodge sedan.

The caller was instructed to begin driving towards the police station and did just that.

Officers began attempting to intercept the two vehicles and spotted the silver Dodge sedan turning westbound on E Main St from N Golden State Blvd. They got behind it as it turned northbound on N Broadway and then eastbound on W Olive Ave, where they stopped it.

Officers made contact with the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Alexander Ross, 34, of Salida, and asked him why he was following the 74-year old man. Ross stated that he had thought that the man was up to no good because he had spotted him doing something suspicious at a house near his girlfriend’s. Investigation revealed that that was the man’s own house.

When officers had their dispatcher run Ross, he returned to be wanted by the Modesto Police Department for a road rage incident that had occurred on Thursday, September 8th, in the 3800 block of Shawnee Dr, Modesto.

The Modesto Police Department stated that the victim from their case had reported that as he was driving northbound on Shawnee Dr from Patton Dr, a man later identified to be Ross stopped his black Dodge pickup truck in front of his and got out. Ross was then alleged to have walked back to the victim’s vehicle and struck it with a metal pipe while yelling racial slurs before getting back into his vehicle and driving off.

The damage to the victim’s vehicle in the Modesto case was estimated to be in excess of $400 which made the vandalism a felony.

Ross was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of vandalism.
