On Sunday, November 20th, 2022, at 11:49 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported suspicious incident at Vilas Parkside, 381 W Hawkeye Ave, Turlock, after several men had been seen running through the apartment complex while a car alarm was going off.

When officers arrived on scene and began checking the area, one of them noticed and recognized a man later identified as Gavino Gusimat, 48, of Oakland, whose photos he had just seen on the be on the lookout log a few hours prior.

Gusimat was wanted in connection to two shoplifting incidents that occurred at Old Navy, 2831 Countryside Drive, on Thursday, October 27th, and Friday, November 11th.

The officer made contact with Gusimat and identified him.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Gusimat, he returned with a $10,000 local misdemeanor bench warrant for possession of methamphetamines.

Gusimat was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of grand theft and organized retail theft, as well as his warrant.
