Man Wanted on 32 Counts of Failure to Appear Damages Patrol Vehicle After Arrest

At about 4:00am Saturday morning, Turlock Police Officer Ayala got out with a suspicious vehicle near N. Washington Road and Fulkerth Road.

The vehicle had been pulled off the roadway onto a dirt path and belonged to Lonnie Butcher, 47, of Turlock, someone whom Ayala knew had warrants.

Sure enough, Butcher and his wife were found sitting in the vehicle.

Butcher had four misdemeanor bench warrants, the first was an $8,550 local one for driving with a suspended license, the second was a $25,000 one out of Tuolumne County for five counts of failure to appear, the third was a $35,000 one out of Tuolumne County for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, failing to provide evidence of financial responsibility to a peace officer, and 25 counts of failure to appear, and the fourth was a $35,000 one out of Tuolumne County for two counts of failure to appear.

Ayala removed Butcher from his vehicle, arrested him, and took him to the front of his patrol vehicle so that he could search him incident to arrest, when Butcher violently slammed his head on the hood of Ayala’s patrol vehicle, causing less than $400 in damage.

Butcher was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of vandalism, as well as his warrants.
