Man wanted on flight and weapon charges after pursuit Friday night

On Friday, July 22nd, 2022, at 8:56 pm, a Turlock Police investigator near the intersection of S Orange St and South Ave, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on it.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

During the pursuit, the driver drove down an alleyway, slowed down momentarily, and then continued to flee at a high rate of speed. During a search of the alleyway, a short barrel shotgun was located in the area where the driver had slowed down.

The pursuit only lasted a couple of minutes, coming to an end when the driver abandoned his vehicle in the 800 block of Park St and fled on foot. Unfortunately, officers got stuck attempting to go through an intersection and were unable to catch up to the driver.

A perimeter was set up and the area was searched with the assistance of Canine Ace and one of the department’s new drones. The search yielded no results.

The driver has been identified and is currently wanted by the Turlock Police Department.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Investigator Alex Jimenez at 209-668-6518.
