At about 3:28am Sunday, Turlock Police responded to a disturbance in progress at The Palms Apartments in the 1100 block of Pedras Road.

Two different callers reported hearing a woman screaming and a child crying near the A building.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted a couple. The male half had made his way across the street, while the female half was still at the apartment complex.

When officers attempted to detain the male half, he resisted them. After a brief struggle, he was placed in handcuffs.

The male half was identified as Zane Villarrial, 21, of Turlock, who turned out to have a $10,500 local misdemeanor bench warrant for battery.

Through the investigation, it was determined there hadn’t been a fresh physical fight between the two.

Villarrial was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty, as well as his warrant.
