Man with reckless burning warrant and methamphetamines arrested during traffic stop Monday night

On Monday, April 24th, 2023, at 10:46 pm, a Turlock Police officer near Circle K, 1600 W Main St, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle with expired registration, so he made a traffic stop on him.

The officer made contact with and identified the man as Joseph Souza, 43, of Turlock.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Souza, he discovered that he had a no-bail local felony bench warrant for unlawfully causing a fire.

Souza was arrested and a search of his vehicle was conducted incident to arrest. During the search, the officer discovered methamphetamines hidden in Souza’s rearview mirror.

Souza was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of possession of methamphetamines, as well as his warrant.
