“Mark Twain in Person” at CSU Stanislaus

Helmut Lipschis

The California State University Stanislaus Department of Theatre will present special guest artist Richard Henzel in his one-man act “Mark Twain in Person” on Thursday and Friday.

By combining material from Mark Twain’s novels, short stories, essays and speeches, Henzel invites the audience into the world of famous author Mark Twain. His performance will attempt to reproduce an authentic Mark Twain lecture, circa 1906.

Henzel, a stage, film, television and voice-over actor, is best known as one of the DJ voices in the movie Groundhog Day. Since 1967, Henzel has been performing his one-man show “Mark Twain in Person” in 40 different states, as well as worldwide.

He has also self-published 20 Mark Twain audiobooks, and appeared with Hal Holbrook at the 2009 Mark Twain conference.

Tickets for “Mark Twain in Person” are $15 general admission, and $12 for senior citizens, students, CSU faculty and staff, and military.

The performance will take place at 8 p.m. March 21 and 22 in the Mainstage Theatre located at One University Circle in Turlock. Parking is free for this event only in Lot 2 at the university.
