Men Found Stabbed in Delhi and Turlock Over Suspected Gang Rivalry

Merced Sheriff’s Department suspects that a gang rivalry was the reason that two men ended up being stabbed, one found in Delhi and one found in Turlock.

On Friday night, Merced Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Cottonwood Liquors parking lot in Delhi on a report of a fight. When deputies arrived they found a Hispanic male stabbed twice in the leg. Several people were fleeing the area as deputies arrived and it looked as it may be a party that was taking place next door to the store when an altercation took place.

A little while later, the Merced Sheriff’s Department was advised by Turlock Police Department that a second stab victim was at Lander Ave and Highway 99. That victim was transported to a Modesto hospital where he underwent surgery for his wounds. He is listed in stable but critical condition and his wounds were described as life threatening.

Both victims were uncooperative and investigators believe the fight was over gang rivalries. It appears the two people stabbed were in the altercation against each other. Both suspects/victims are described as Hispanic males in their 20’s.

There is no further information regarding the stabbings at this time, according to the Merced Sheriff’s Department.
