Merced 15, Turlock 10. Merced Trash Talks City of Turlock.

Merced got lucky with a game winning pass just thrown up in the air towards the end zone.

Turlock was leading Merced 10-9 at half time and were holding them pretty good.

Merced actually were the ones “holding” Turlock as they were called for 13 penalties totaling 120 yards by the end of the game. Merced coaches and media basically insinuated a little bit of “home cooking” as they say the calls were predictable and understand how Turlock ran the ball 46 times without one holding call.

The end of the game ended up having a score of 15-10, Merced. After a botched snap, Merced quarterback Allen Huddleston found a way to throw the ball up to the back of the end zone and Merced’s Eddie Beavers jumped up above the rest to catch the ball for the game winning touchdown.

Merced’s win over Turlock has clinched them at least a CCC co-championship title. They come back to Turlock’s Joe Debely Stadium to face Pitman for the CCC showdown. If Pitman wins, they can share the CCC championship with Merced. If Merced wins, they are the outright CCC champions.

Before the Merced/Turlock game, the Merced paper was trash talking Joe Debely’s field conditions, and still are, as they have to come back to the “oversized dirt clod” (so says Merced Sun-Star’s Steve Cameron) to face Pitman in the season finale.

Our poor beaten down Joe Debely field may not be the greatest but we do use it for both Turlock and Pitman’s games. I think everyone in Turlock has been proud that we even have a stadium and one with history.

Speaking of being proud (or not), why don’t the people in Merced worry about all their foreclosed house lawns around their city! That would seem to be a bigger priority wouldn’t it?

With quotes apologizing to the Turlock Chamber of Commerce because Turlock is not a fun place to visit, saying our school (a place of education mainly) has bad sports fields, etc… We should make it a fun place to visit with a very Pitman (Turlock) supportive crowd when they come back on Friday to play the Pride.

Merced Sun-Star’s Steve Cameron also said that Friday’s game will be “one more slog on the field from hell” for Merced, so let’s give it to them.

Bulldogs or Pride, every Turlocker should show up to Friday’s game and show up early to show some support for our teams. The sophomore team will be starting at 5:15pm.
