Multi-lingual Students Honored at TUSD Board Meeting

The Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees honored more than 20 junior and senior students from Pitman and Turlock High Schools with the County Seal Of Multi-lingual Proficiency on Tuesday.

The seal will be affixed to their transcripts and diplomas as verification of their linguistic proficiency in English and at least one other world language. While the majority of students received the seal for English and Spanish, several students also demonstrated proficiency in Farsi and Assyrian.

Turlock High School senior Olga Covarrubias commented on what the seal means to her.

“I think it brings me great pride and it means that I am really bilingual,” she said.
