New Consignment Shop Looks to Help Nonprofits

|

A new consignment shop with a focus on giving back to the community has officially opened its doors.

Just Cause Consignment held its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday at its 100 N. Palm Ave. location, between Main Street and Olive Avenue.

Just Cause takes new, locally made and gently used furniture and home décor on consignment. The “Consign for A Cause” program gives non-profit organizations or individuals the option to donate a portion or all of their sales to a cause of their choice, and Just Cause will match 10 percent.

Partners Trina Walley and Tracy Myers are excited for the opportunity to help non-profit organizations raise funds.

“I’ve always been community-minded through serving in Kiwanis and my church, so it made sense to do something to give back to the community,” said Walley.

A front section of the store will be specifically dedicated to the Cosign for A Cause program and each month the section will be dedicated to a different non-profit organization's fundraiser. Walley says a good example is a church rummage sale placing merchandise in the section. Just Cause provides a lower consignment fee and then matches 10 percent. This month the section is open to individuals who want to raise money for any organization.

Since Just Cause soft-opened three weeks ago individuals have raised money for the Salvation Army, Holy Ground Ministries and The Kiwanis Club of Turlock. The organizations were presented with the funds at Thursday's grand opening.
