One Displaced After Kitchen Fire, Being Investigated

At about 2:55pm Monday afternoon, Turlock Fire, Modesto Fire, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit, Turlock Police, and American Medical Responded responded to a structure fire at a residence in the 1000 block of Fifth Street.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke showing from the roof of the residence, making it look like there was an attic fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire and firefighters had to force entry, finding a kitchen fire inside.

Firefighters immediately began fire attack in the offensive strategy and were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes, however, remained on scene for an extended period of time conducting overhaul, investigation, and other post-fire activities.

The Turlock Irrigation District and Pacific Gas and Electric Company also responded to the scene to secure utilities, while the Modesto Fire Department provided city coverage for the duration of the incident.

No injuries were reported, however, the home’s one occupant was displaced.

It’s currently unknown how the fire started.
