Parolee arrested after traffic stop leads to the discovery of narcotics early Thursday morning

On Thursday, June 30th, 2022, at 1:00 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Almond Ave and N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Nicolas Martinez, 29, of Turlock, and had his dispatcher run him. Martinez returned to be on parole for a weapon related charge which meant that he and his property can be searched by any peace officer at any time without probable cause or a warrant.

A parole search of Martinez’s vehicle was conducted which led to the discovery of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Martinez’s parole agent was contacted who made the decision to place him on a hold pending a parole revocation hearing.

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamines, and violation of parole.
