On Sunday, September 11th, 2022, at 10:13 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported suspicious incident at Starbucks, 1611 Lander Ave, Turlock, after an employee’s mother had reported that she had overheard three transients talking about robbing the business while she was picking up her child.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with two subjects across the street from the business, however, they were determined to be uninvolved.

A sergeant then attempted to make contact with another subject, later identified as Oscar Vasquez, 28, of Turlock, on W Linwood Ave just west of Lander Ave, however, he began running from him eastbound towards the intersection.

An officer positioned in their vehicle east of the intersection was able to intercept Vasquez, get out of his vehicle, chase Vasquez southbound on foot for a few seconds, and then tackle him where he was taken into custody by him and the sergeant who originally attempted to make contact with him.

Vasquez was determined to be on parole for domestic violence inflicting corporal injury, so his parole agent was contacted. Vasquez’s parole agent authorized that he be placed on a hold, pending a parole revocation hearing.

Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a peace officer or other public officer and violation of parole.
