On Friday, April 7th, 2023, at 11:09 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of W Hawkeye Ave and Geer Rd, Turlock, observed a driver violating the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on him.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Claudio Cortez, 30, of Turlock. Cortez stated that he was on parole for carjacking, so he was removed from his vehicle and detained in handcuffs.

The officer confirmed Cortez’s parole status and then searched Cortez’s vehicle. During the search, the officer came across drug paraphernalia.

Cortez was arrested and released on a citation on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The officer also documented Cortez’s tattoos and notified his parole agent of the arrest.
