At about 2:49am Thursday, Turlock Police responded to a disturbance in progress at Circle K in the 1600 block of W. Main Street.

The caller was the clerk reporting there were two transients outside the business arguing over a blanket.

Officer Hood arrived on scene and contacted a man next door in the old Burger King parking lot. He identified himself as Dix Herbert, 55, of Livingston.

When Hood had her dispatcher run Herbert, she discovered that he was a parolee-at-large for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and had a $15,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Livingston for possession of methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Herbert was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of violation of parole, as well as his warrant.
