Parolee-at-Large Arrested After Getting Flat Tire During Pursuit

At about 8:23pm Monday, Turlock Police Officer Kauffman attempted to make a traffic stop near High Street and S. Orange Street.

The vehicle took off from Kauffman and a brief pursuit ensued which ended around the corner after the vehicle got a flat tire.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Sergio Roman, 35, of San Jose, took off from Kauffman on foot, however, was quickly apprehended back around the corner.

Roman’s female passenger stayed in the vehicle and was cooperative when contacted by other officers.

When officers had their dispatcher run Roman, they discovered he was on parole for robbery and at-large, had a $5,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Merced for theft, and was restrained from the woman who was in the car with him.

He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamines.

Roman was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of fleeing from a peace officer by vehicle with disregard for public safety, obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty, possession of methamphetamines, and violation of parole, as well as his warrant.

Additionally, Roman’s vehicle was impounded.
