On Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, at 6:23 pm, the Turlock Police Department and Stanislaus State Police Department were dispatched to a reported supervision violation at the Parkwood Apartments, 3800 Crowell Rd, Turlock, after receiving information that a parolee-at-large had been seen near the pool area.

Officers arrived in the area and established a perimeter around the apartment complex.

Officers then approached the pool area and located the parolee, Micah Ames, 41, of Turlock, who began running when he spotted officers.

Ames jumped the fence to the Boardwalk Apartments and was met by an officer there who had taken a perimeter position. She chased him on foot and a police drone was used to keep eyes on him.

Ames was briefly lost in the apartment complex, however, was located within a minute on a staircase. He surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

It was then discovered that in addition to Ames being a parolee-at-large, he also had a $175,000 local felony Ramey warrant for threatening to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, elder or dependent adult abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death, intimidating or threatening a witness or victim from giving testimony at a trial, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic.

Ames was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty and violation of parole, as well as his warrant.
