Parolee barricaded in motel room with two felony warrants arrested after nearly two-hour standoff with officers early Thursday morning

On Thursday, September 29th, 2022, at 12:42 am, a Turlock Police officer near Days Inn, 185 N Tully Rd, Turlock, observed a speeding vehicle quickly enter the parking lot of the motel and its occupants exit, including one who the officer recognized and knew was a parolee with felony warrants.

The parolee, Anthony Silver, 23, of Turlock, immediately fled into a motel room on the second floor after seeing the officer.

The officer had his dispatcher run Silver to confirm he still had warrants, and he returned with two local felony warrants. The first one was a $150,500 bench warrant for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded and operable firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and the second one was a no bail one for violation of parole.

A few minutes after Silver fled into the room, dispatch received a call from a man reporting that an aggravated assault had just occurred at a nearby park, however, the phone that was used to make that call was pinging at Days Inn. The park was checked as a precaution and officers didn’t locate anything, just as suspected. The phone number used to make the call was later confirmed to be associated with Silver.

Additional officers began arriving at Days Inn and set up a perimeter around the motel.

After nearly two hours of communicating with Silver by making public address system announcements and calling him on the phone, Silver exited his room and surrendered. He was arrested without incident.

Silver was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a peace officer or other public officer, as well as his warrants.
