On Saturday, January 14th, 2023, at 6:49 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported occupied suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of The Home Depot, 2800 Countryside Drive, Turlock.

Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle, finding a man later identified as Marcos Cardenas, 28, of Delhi, inside of it.

When officers had their dispatcher run Cardenas, they discovered that he was on parole for burglary.

Officers began investigating and determined that Cardenas was not the vehicle’s owner and upon further investigation learned that its owner was a Home Depot employee. The owner was contacted and he stated that he had no idea who Cardenas was and that he was not supposed to be in his vehicle.

Cardenas was removed from the vehicle and a search was conducted, which led to the discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine and recently stolen merchandise from the business.

Officers called a parole agent and reported to him what had occurred. The parole agent found that there was probable cause a violation of parole had occurred, so he authorized that Cardenas be placed on a hold while awaiting a parole revocation hearing.

Cardenas was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of transporting or selling methamphetamines and violation of parole.
