On Friday, May 26th, 2023, at 8:13 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of W Hawkeye Ave and N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, observed a woman driving a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on her.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s four occupants, including passengers Candice Deatley, 36, of Turlock, and Lyle Harlan, 30, of Turlock.

When the officer had his dispatcher run the four, he discovered that Deatley had a misdemeanor bench warrant out of Madera County for burglary, Harlan was on parole for robbery, and Harlan had three local misdemeanor bench warrants. The first was a $5,000 one for shoplifting, the second was a $1,000 one for possession of a controlled substance, and the third was a $5,500 one for theft.

All four were removed from the vehicle and it was searched. During the search, the officer discovered drug paraphernalia.

The officer called Harlan’s parole agent and informed him of the drug paraphernalia and warrants. The parole agent found that there was probable cause a violation of parole had occurred, so he authorized that Harlan be placed on a hold while awaiting a parole revocation hearing.

Deatley and Harlan were both arrested. Deatley was released on a citation on her warrant, while Harlan was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of violation of parole and his warrants.
