Pedestrian killed by train early Monday morning

On Monday, October 18th, 2021, at 2:37 am, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of E Olive Ave and N First St, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they located a pedestrian and train involved.

The pedestrian, later identified as Frank Fink, 41, of Turlock, suffered major injuries which he succumbed to upon impact. The train’s crew was uninured.

The train sustained no damage and was able to be driven away from the scene.

Officers began investigating and determined that the train was traveling northbound through the area when it struck Fink who was on the tracks and wearing all black. The train was stopped for about an hour and half to allow officers to investigate which caused all crossing between W Canal Dr and W F St to be blocked.
