Pedestrian Run Over by Vehicle Airlifted to Hospital with Life Threatening Injuries

Turlock Police Department responded to an injury accident yesterday at approximately 8:00am involving a vehicle striking and driving over a pedestrian on English Avenue.

The pedestrian, a female adult, suffered life threatening injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital.

Turlock Police Department’s MAIT (Major Accident Investigation Team) was on scene for approximately 6 hours.

The driver of the vehicle (an adult Female) was southbound on English Avenue (a residential street) when she struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street. Witness statements indicated the pedestrian was lawfully crossing in the roadway when the vehicle struck her and drove over her.

Witness statements and evidence also indicate this was a slow speed accident; preliminary estimation at this time is less than 20 mph.

It does not appear that alcohol or drugs are a contributing factor.

The incident is still under investigation by MAIT.
