As one of the oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline honor societies, Phi Kappa Phi only accepts new members by invitation, requiring nomination and approval of each invitee.
The California State University, Stanislaus chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi recently held a ceremony to welcome and honor new student and faculty members who made the cut.
Nomination is open to students who meet the following requirements:
– The top 7.5 percent of juniors by department, with a minimum grade-point average of 3.75;
– The top 10 percent of seniors by department, with a minimum GPA of 3.75;
– The top 10 percent of graduate students by department, with a minimum GPA of 3.85 and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.60; and
– Faculty members who have achieved scholarly distinction.
The CSU Stanislaus chapter of Phi Kappa Phi has had a busy year, collecting and giving away more than 250 books during it’s “Spooktacular Book Drive” at the university’s Halloween Gala. Additionally, the chapter hosted a regional meeting for the honor society, with members from the University of California Davis, San Jose State University, CSU Sacramento, and CSU Fresno attending.
Leading up to the initiation ceremony, the chapter at CSU Stanislaus also held public lectures at the university by author, educator, trainer and Iowa television host and producer Luann Alemao-Johnson and Chicago-based actor Dan Gately.
