Police Arrest Parolee with Handgun, Switchblade, Illegal Medication

Turlock police arrested two subjects Thursday evening, including one who had a handgun, switchblade, and drugs, after a routine traffic stop.

At approximately 7:12 p.m., officers pulled over a vehicle on the 1900 block of Westminster Lane.

Prior to the traffic stop, the Turlock Police Department received report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside of a Turlock residence. The vehicle had been parked in front of the residence for more than 40 minutes and the caller did not recognize the vehicle or the driver, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Additionally, it was found that the vehicle was allegedly linked to other suspicious activity around Turlock, said Lewis.

When officers stopped the vehicle, they contacted the driver Jeffrey Rees, 23, and the passenger Evan Rice, 25.

Rees was found to have been allegedly driving with a suspended license. He was subsequently arrested and cited.

Rice, who was on active probation, was allegedly found to be in possession of a handgun, a switchblade knife, and illegal possession of prescription medication. Rice was arrested and booked for the three violations, as well as violating the terms of his parole.
