Police Arrive to Multiple Shots, Evacuate Neighborhood

Reports of shots fired in the neighborhood of Chakkar Estates Dr. and Shawnan Dr. were called into the Turlock Police Department at around 1:40am on Wednesday.
 
When officers arrived, they heard multiple shots fired in the residential area west of the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds.
 
Officers located one person, a Hispanic 20 or 21 year old male, who had a gun shot wound and was transported to an area hospital with a serious but none-life threatening injury.
               
The area was secured and neighborhood residents were evacuated as a precaution to insure their safety. 
 
A location of interest had been identified and Turlock Police Department Detectives conducted an investigation as to the location and its occupants. The Turlock Police Department Critical Response Team (CRT) was activated and arrived to the area.
 
At approximately 9:00am, based upon information received it was believed that a person involved in the shooting may have been inside a residence in the 800 block of Shawnan Dr. The Turlock Police Department SWAT team made entry into the residence; however, no one was inside.
 
The neighbors in the area were allowed back into there homes by around 11:00am when the area was secure.
 
The Turlock Police Department is currently following investigative leads as to person of interest regarding this event. At this time we are not releasing any other information as this is an ongoing investigation.
