Police canine apprehends man who chased kids with stick Saturday evening

Turlock’s Rick Falkenberg (left) and Dr. Harold Tabaie, Legacy Circle of Emanuel volunteers, discuss their plans to help Emanuel reach its $1 million fund drive goal by Thursday, October 7.

On Saturday, May 29th, 2021, at approximately 5:25 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of a man chasing kids around with a stick. The caller reported that they believed the man was under the influence of a controlled substance.

When officers arrived, they located a male matching the description, in possession of a stick, hitting a nearby tree. The initial officer attempted to speak with the male, later identified as Domingo Luna, 26, of Ceres, but Luna challenged him to fight. A second officer arrived and was assaulted by Luna. Officer Marco Diaz brought his canine partner, Ace, into action. Ace bit Luna which allowed officers to safely take him into custody.

The Turlock Fire Department’s Engine 31 and American Medical Response responded and treated Luna for the dog bite. Luna was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital to receive medical clearance and was later booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a charge of resisting an executive officer with violence.
