At about 2:20am Sunday morning, Officer Mulhim was involved in a vehicle collision at Lander Avenue and E. Glenwood Avenue.

Different officers responded to handle the collision, and when they arrived, found two vehicles involved. The first was a maroon 2015 Honda Civic, while the second was a black and white 2017 Ford Explorer Turlock Police Department patrol vehicle.

One of the passengers of the maroon Civic complained of pain and requested an ambulance. He was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital. Mulhim didn’t complain of any injuries immediately following the collision.

While speaking with the driver of the maroon Civic, Ambar Moreno, 22, of Turlock, officers noticed that she was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked her if she’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Moreno agreed and completed the tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Moreno was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested.

Moreno provided two breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. She was then issued a driver’s license suspension order and released to a sober person on a citation for the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.

Mulhim was later transported to a local hospital by his supervisor and was determined to have an undisclosed injury which will require him to take some time away from work to recover.

Mulhim is a six-year veteran of the Turlock Police Department, joining as a Police Cadet in 2017. He attended the police academy in 2019, however, wasn’t sworn in as a Police Officer until February 2021 due to an unrelated injury. He completed field training in September 2021 and has proudly been serving the City of Turlock with commitment and dedication since.

Get well soon, Officer Mulhim! We can’t wait to see you back on the streets doing what you love.
