Prescription Drug Drop Box Offered by Turlock Police Department

Turlock Police Chief Rob Jackson announced last week that the Turlock Police Department will now be accepting expired, unwanted, and potentially dangerous prescription drugs from the public for destruction.

The prescription drop box is conveniently located in the lobby of the Public Safety Facility, located at 244 N. Broadway Ave. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

“Properly disposing of prescription drugs can help prevent pill abuse, misuse, and theft,” said the Turlock Police Department in press release.

According to the Turlock Police Department, studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from home medicine cabinets.

Chief Jackson urges the community to utilize the department’s drop-off program, as the usual methods of disposal are hazardous and can pose a potential health risk. The Turlock Police Department recommends never flushing prescription medication down the toilet or throwing it away.

Only prescription medication in pill or liquid form will be accepted. For the safety of Turlock police staff, please do not place syringes in the drop box.
