Pursuit Following Reported Theft Yields Four Arrests

Four subjects were arrested May 23 following a pursuit with Turlock police that ended in Delhi.

Officers responded to Rainbow Clothing, located at 1810 Countryside Dr., at approximately 5:23 p.m. on May 23 on the report of a larceny in progress.

Turlock police arrived to the area and located the vehicle believed to be involved in the theft. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled and a pursuit ensued, said Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The pursuit continued southbound on Highway 99 before the driver took the Collier Road exit in Delhi, said Lewis.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as John Paul Martini, 35, stopped the vehicle and fled on foot, said Lewis.

Three female subjects were left in the vehicle and were all arrested and cited.

Officers searched the area with the help of California Highway Patrol helicopter and Merced County Sheriff’s K9 unit and located Martini hiding under a house in the 8000 block of Sycamore Street in Delhi.

Martini was arrested and booked for felony pursuit, resisting arrest, violation of parole, and two out of county warrants.

The three female passengers were all arrested and cited. Michelle Rojas, 27 was cited for petty theft and several warrants; Heather Woody, 31, and Jill Curick-Shanks, 27, were cited for petty theft.
