Pursuit of stolen vehicle leads to arrest of two Tuesday night

On Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, at 8:31 pm,  Turlock Police special investigations unit investigators in the area of Pedras Rd and N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, attempted to stop a stolen black Ram pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Douglas Scott Russell, 43, of Denair, decided he did not want to stop for the investigators and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit lasted for about a minute, terminating when Russell stopped in the 100 block of Twentieth Century Blvd and leg bailed. Investigators and assisting officers chased Russell to Walgreens, where they were ultimately able to take him into custody without further incident.

The vehicle was also occupied by a female, Tasha Rae Argo, 38, of Turlock. She stayed in the vehicle when Russell leg bailed. Officers detained Argo and discovered that she had a felony warrant for carjacking when they ran a wants and warrants check on her.

The vehicle had been stolen overnight. Its owner had parked it within a fenced area at his residence in the early morning hours, and when he woke up to leave with it, he discovered that it was missing and that his fence had been broken down. The vehicle was released to its owner who responded to the scene. He and his son were very thankful for the efforts of the investigators who found his vehicle.

Russell and Argo were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Russell on charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property, resisting a peace officer, possession of methamphetamines, flight from a peace officer, and violation of probation, and Argo on her felony warrant.
