Regional Planning Board Seeks Turlock Members

David Fransen

The agency in charge of planning Stanislaus County's roads, highways, and land use is looking for a new, local member.

The Stanislaus Council of Governments is seeking a new representative for its Citizens Advisory Committee, specifically from Turlock.

StanCOG serves as the regional transportation planning agency and metropolitan planning organization in Stanislaus County. The group plans and allocates funding for all state highway projects and many local transportation projects. StanCOG is also currently preparing a regional land use plan, as required by state law, which would result in reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

The Citizens Advisory Committee is a standing committee comprised of 15 Stanislaus County residents that provides recommendations on matters which eventually become policy. The group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the StanCOG Board Room, 1111 I St., Modesto.

Members are appointed to four-year terms by the StanCOG Executive Committee.

To apply, call (209) 525-4600 or visit www.stancog.org/cac-committee.shtm.
