On Sunday, June 25th, 2023, at 12:33 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a security check at the intersection of W Linwood Ave and Lander Ave, Turlock, for a man who was passed out behind the wheel at the traffic light with his foot on the brake.

When officers arrived on scene, they found that the man was still passed out at the traffic light, so they boxed his vehicle in and woke him up.

Officers identified the man as Victor Azua, 24, Turlock, and had their dispatcher run him. In doing so, they discovered that he was on court probation for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Azua displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence, so officers asked him if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Azua agreed and completed the tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that Azua was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested.

Azua provided two breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law.

Azua was then issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.

During an inventory search of Azua’s vehicle prior to it being towed, an officer located a notebook in the back seat with notes from a DUI program that Azua had been going through.

Azua was released on a citation on the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
