At about 12:44am Sunday, Turlock Police Officer McCrae made a traffic stop behind Staley’s Club in the 400 block of E. Main Street.

McCrae made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Ethan Baker, 33, of Turlock.

When McCrae had his dispatcher run Baker, he discovered he had two misdemeanor bench warrants. The first was a $1,020 local one for driving with a suspended license due to a DUI conviction, while the second was a $10,000 one out of San Luis Obispo County for unknown charges.

Additional officers, including a canine, were requested for scene security due to Baker having three passengers and several other people standing outside the bar.

McCrae removed Baker from his vehicle and noticed that he was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, so he asked him if he’d be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Baker agreed and completed the tests.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, McCrae determined that Baker was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

Baker provided two breath samples at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The breath samples revealed that Baker had a blood alcohol content greater than .08%.

Afterward, Baker was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.

Additionally, Baker was issued another driver’s license suspension order and his vehicle was impounded.
