On Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, at 12:03 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of N Tully Rd and Fulkerth Rd, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle northbound collide into the center median while making a westbound turn at the intersection.

After the collision, the officer watched the man continue driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Fulkerth Rd before the man drove over the center median to get back into the correct lanes.

The officer eventually stopped the man in the Arco AMPM parking lot.

The man was contacted and identified as Jahaziel Aldana, 31, of Patterson.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Aldana, he discovered that he had a $10,000 misdemeanor bench warrant out of Tuolumne County for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, and driving with a suspended driver’s license.

While speaking with Aldana, the officer noticed that he had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and an unsteady gait. There was also an odor of alcohol coming off of him.

The officer removed Aldana from his vehicle and asked him if he was willing to participate in standardized field sobriety, however, he refused.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, the officer determined that Aldana was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested.

Aldana was transported to a local hospital to provide a blood sample as required by California’s implied consent law. Afterward, he was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol for the fourth or more time within 10 years, driving a vehicle not equipped with a functioning ignition interlock device when required, and driving a vehicle to the left of an intermittent barrier or dividing section which separates two or more opposing lanes of traffic, as well as his warrant. Additionally, he was issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.
