Roadside fire burns a quarter of an acre of grass, cause remains unknown

On Tuesday, September 1st, 2020, at approximately 4:40 pm, the Turlock Fire Department received a call of a grass fire in the 3000 block of Colorado Ave. The Turlock Fire Department responded with Battalion 4, Engine 31, Engine 33, and Engine 34. Upon Engine 33’s arrival, Captain 33 reported a grass fire about a quarter of an acre in size. Captain 33 assumed command and had his crew begin fire attack.

Other units arrived shortly thereafter and assisted. The cause of the fire remains unknown, however, it’s likely accidental. The fire was under control within a few minutes of Engine 33’s arrival and fully extinguished shortly thereafter. Once it was extinguished, command was terminated. All fire units went clear and available.
