Noted country music artist Rodney Atkins will perform at the Stanislaus County Fair this summer, Fair officials announced Thursday.

“Rodney Atkins is very well respected and recognized in the country music industry,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “We know that he will put on an incredible show and we are excited to have him at the Stanislaus County Fair.”

Atkins has had six career No. 1 hits, most recently “Take a Back Road.” He has won Song of the Year honors at the Broadcast Music Inc. Awards for that song, “Watching You,” and “If You're Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows).”

Atkins saw a surge of success following the release of his 2006 album “If You're Going Through Hell,” which had four No. 1 singles and has been certified platinum. Atkins' most recent single, “Doin' It Right,” was released in October 2013.

Atkins will perform at 8:30 p.m. July 14 on the Bud Light Variety Free Stage. The free concert will be presented by KAT Country 103.

The 2014 Stanislaus County Fair opens July 11 for a 10-day run. Discounted fair admission tickets go on sale May 3.
