Serial robber stopped by would-be victims early Friday morning

On Friday, August 6th, 2021, at 4:20 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported attempted robbery that had just occurred at Arco AMPM located at 150 E Monte Vista Ave, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they met with two clerks who would have been victims of a serial robber that has previously robbed their store. The clerks reported that they had been standing outside the store chatting when they saw a man attempting to jump over the wall that is between the store and an alleyway shared with James Ln. As the clerks noticed the suspect attempting to jump over the wall, they noticed that he had placed a handgun on top of it. The clerks began confronting the suspect which then resulted in him retreating and running away back through the alley.

The store had been robbed twice in a similar fashion the past month and it is believed that the suspect from those two robberies is the same as this one. He is described as a white male adult wearing a motorcycle helmet, black hoodie, and blue jeans.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer John-Paul Beech at 209-669-2108.
