On Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at 2:21 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported shoplifting in progress at Kohl’s, 2751 Countryside Dr, Turlock.

An on-duty detective who was conducting follow-up in a separate shoplifting case at a neighboring business heard the call, made his way over to Kohl’s, and stopped two women who were leaving the business in a vehicle.

Both of the women were identified, including Katrice Davis, 44, of Sacramento.

Patrol officers arrived a short time later and began their investigation, learning from loss prevention that Davis had dropped the merchandise that they believed she was about to steal before exiting the business, however, they were able to identify her as the suspect from another shoplifting incident that had occurred on Friday, May 12th. During that incident, over $950 worth of merchandise was taken.

Davis was arrested and the vehicle that she was in was searched. During that search, officers located and seized what they believed to be stolen merchandise unrelated to the Kohl’s incident in May. It was later confirmed that the items had been stolen from a retail store in Riverbank earlier that same day.

Davis was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on two counts of grand theft.
