Sheriff’s Association Warns of Scammers Posing as Law Enforcement

The California State Sheriff’s Association Foundation (CSSAF) is advising the public of recent suspicious phone calls received by citizens appearing to be from the CSSAF.

According to a release posted on the CSSAF, the phone calls appear to be coming either the CSSAD main number, 916-375-8000, or from their fax number, 916-375-8017.

This scam involves callers posing as law enforcement and threatening legal action if the victim does not pay them.

If you receive one of these suspicious calls, do not give out any personal information, such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, etc.

“Please be advised that the California State Sheriffs’ Association Foundation does not solicit by phone,” said CSSA President, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson.

Also, please report any of these calls to your local law enforcement agency immediately.
