The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a suspicious death at a rest stop in Turlock.

According to Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Keith Rakoncza, fire and medical services responded to the Enoch Christoffersen Rest Stop on northbound Highway 99 at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday for medical aid. 

They performed medical services to the victim upon arrival, but the victim died at the scene and law enforcement was called.

“There is no cause of death at this time and detectives are investigating the case,” said. Rakoncza.

At this time, the death is being listed as suspicious. There is an autopsy scheduled for Thursday.

The victim’s identity is not being released until the family is notified. No further information is being released at this time, said Rakoncza.
