Sheriff’s Release Identity of Rest Stop Victim

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department has released the identity of the woman who died at a rest stop in Turlock last Wednesday night.

The woman, Christina Cardoza, 41, had sustained an injury earlier that day in Livingston, near Campbell Boulevard and Winton Parkway, said Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Keith Rakoncza.

“It is unknown at this time if this injury is related of the cause of death,” said Rakoncza. “The cause of death is pending the autopsy and toxicology report which takes four to six weeks.”

Medical and fire services were called to the Enoch Christoffersen Rest Stop off northbound Highway 99 to perform medical aid on Wednesday evening.

They performed medical services upon arrival, but Cardoza died on scene.

The case is currently being investigated by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
